Additional Information Required for Jean Gaborit Custom Made Boots Only

On boot shaft size there are a few things to remember.  Firstly, loose or sagging boots look terrible.  You do however need to take into account what you will be wearing the boots with.  If you plan to wear them on bare legs with a skirt the shaft will need to be marginally smaller than if your plan to wear them over trousers or jeans.  Secondly, boots that are tight look great when you first put them on but quickly get ripples in them as they work down your leg while you are walking.  They can also make it very difficult and uncomfortable to bend your knee while sitting.  For boots to look good your leg needs a small amount of room in the boot such that it will slide up and down on your leg as you walk and sit.  Even though all our Jean Gaborit EURO boots are custom made we are unable to change the heel height or shape unless so indicated within the description of the actual style itself.

We require that you take 15 measurements to allow us to complete your order.  If an appropriate measuring tape is not available, you may use a piece of string and then lay it onto a rigid ruler to read the measurement.  Note that all measurements are to be taken barefooted with heel flat on a hard floor.  If possible get a second person to help take your measurements.

Please be aware that US sizes 14 and above may attract a $170 AUD premium.  If when you order boots and they do fall into this category I will notify you before proceeding with the order.  Shipping for all EURO boots is $100 AUD with delivery taking approximately 4 weeks from our confirmation of your order.

Please note that our policy on custom boots is that they are NOT returnable if they do not fit due to incorrect measuring or size selection on your part.  By ordering a custom pair of boots you agree to be bound by this policy.

Measurements

1 The length of your foot.
2 The measurement around toes/ball of foot.
3 The measurement around the instep.
4 The measurement around your foot, heel to instep.
5 The measurement around the ankle.
6 The measurement around your leg at the calf.
6A The height on your leg where you took the calf measurement.
7 The measurement around the leg just below the knee.
7A The height on your leg where measurement 7 was taken.
8 The measurement around the leg at the knee.
8A The height on your leg where 8 was taken.
9 The measurement around leg above the knee.
9A The height on your leg where 9 was taken.
10 The measurement around the thigh at the boot top.
10A The height on your inside leg where 10 was taken.

How to take your measurements.
1. Get a piece of paper with a straight edge on it. A newspaper or piece of A4 is ok.
2. Place the paper on a hard floor surface with the straight edge hard up against a wall.
3. Place you foot on the paper with your heel pressing up against the wall taking care not to move the paper.
4. Mark the position of the end of your big toe on the paper. Be sure to mark vertically straight down taking care NOT to include the width of the pencil.  Do this for both your feet as in some cases one foot can be slightly larger than the other.
5. Now measure the distance from the edge of the paper to these marks with a ruler in either inches or centimetres.
6. Take the largest of the two measurements and record as 1.
7. Use a suitable soft measuring tape and record the measurements 2 to 10A as required above.  Do not wrap the tape measure tightly around the leg or foot.  Ensure that heights especially 10A are taken as an inside leg not outside leg measurement.  If you plan on wearing trousers or jeans with the boots take the measurements wearing that apparel.
8. Remember be as precise as possible.  Generally two people make the task much easier and result more accurate.
